Vaccination Policy
Vaccination Records
- When bookings are made, customers are emailed to inform them that proof of vaccinations must be provided before their dog’s stay. A clear image of the vaccination record must be uploaded to our customer portal on the dog’s account. If the required vaccinations are not up to date, the reservation may be delayed or canceled. Refunds cannot be made if reservations need to be cancelled in this event.
- The kennel cough vaccination must be administered at least 72 hours before the start date but ideally 1-2 weeks prior.
Vaccination Requirements
Dogs must be vaccinated against the following diseases, and the vaccination must be administered within the last 12 months by a qualified veterinary surgeon:
- Distemper
- Parvovirus
- Hepatitis
- Leptospirosis
- Parainfluenza
- Kennel Cough (Infectious Tracheobronchitis) – administered separately and not included in standard boosters.
Kennel cough vaccines may be identified as ‘Interac’ (6 months validity) or ‘Novibac KC’ (12 months validity).
Managing Exceptions & Eventualities
- Dogs are contagious up to 72 hours after receiving kennel cough vaccinations, so they cannot be accepted before this period.
- If an owner does not have the vaccination records on hand, we must determine if an emergency exception is possible (e.g., last-minute travel plans).
- If a dog’s vaccinations expire during their stay, the owner must arrange an immediate update or the dog may be isolated.
- If a dog’s identity does not match the vaccination card, veterinary treatment may be delayed until verification is complete.
- If expired vaccinations are mistakenly accepted, management must decide whether to waive fees or send the dog home.
Customer Accountability
- Customers must upload their vaccination records in advance.
- They can be reminded via email (automated or manual).
