Motivating your dog
In this video Ross Henderson uses a toy and a key word to mark the desired behaviour.
Motivation varies greatly between dogs, for some dogs, food is the greatest reward you could provide so it is highly motivating to use during training sessions. For other dogs, a toy is better than food.
In this video Ross demonstrates how to use your dog’s favourite toy as a lure in training.
Learn how to keep the training interesting by changing direction and also the correct technique of reward placement. Use a marker such as a click or the word “good” to let your dog know what earns him the reward.
Once you identify what really motivates your dog, there really isn’t a limit to what you can train your dog to do.
