Royvon Day School
Get your dog ready for the best days of their lives, school is in session! Royon Day School is the education of dreams for your dog: exciting, progressive, social and packed full of great learning.
Royvon Day School is a new addition to our dog training services, alongside residential dog training and 1-2-1 dog training sessions with owners and dogs. Day School offers a mix of training, enrichment, resting and playing, carefully balanced out so that your dog receives maximum results from training lessons, and ultimate enjoyment from their time with us.
Royvon was founded in 1959 and we have been constantly seeking ways to help more dogs to live a happy life ever since. Our positive, force-free training is delivered by expert dog trainers and our award-winning boarding is packed full of activity options to keep dogs stimulated when they are away from home. Day School combines the expert knowledge of our training team with our quality accommodation for days that your dog looks forward to.
Who is Royvon Day School for?
Dogs from six months are welcome at Royvon Day School. Right from kindergarten for the little ones to sixth form for the big ones, your dog learns how to get top marks and graduate with flying colours. If your dog is under six months, our puppy school is an ideal starter.
You might be looking for a new daycare option, switching from a current option that doesn’t give your dog enough to do or even had your dog refused from daycare for the way they play with other dogs or behave – a sure sign that dog training is essential!
Or you might have explored our other training options and decide that a series of half days is more suited to your needs than residential or 1-2-1s.
“Positive dog training helps dogs to succeed with their training goals while increasing their confidence, in themselves and in their relationship with you. As a result of engaging training that is based in giving more of what motivates your dog, balanced with playtime, they are more focused, socialised, calm and happy.”
(Darren James, Owner of Royvon Dog Training and Hotels)
What sort of training can my dog get at Day School?
What sort of training can my dog get at Day School?
Your dog joins us for half a day of activities, either morning or afternoon:
Life Skills: For dogs that need training in some of the basics to allow them to relax and be great company in all kinds of environments so that you can spend more time together. This includes lead walking, reliable recall, managing excitement and over-the-top socialisation. These kind of skills make your dog easier to predict in all kinds of situations and our force-free, positive training methods mean they love the process too!
Behaviour Work: For dogs with reactivity issues towards people, dogs, traffic or anything that causes anxiety for them, or you, to build confidence, trust and calm. This option is for dogs with more in-depth behaviour training needs and our expert team who specialise in your dog’s problems will be assigned to work with your dog.
Practical Lesson: A training session with your dedicated trainer who will work with your dog throughout the course using positive, force-free training techniques. They will work on the goals you have established with them and at the end of each day school session, you will receive a written report. Sessions are based on the optimum lesson length for learning and focus.
Brain Lesson: Brain games and puzzles are a great form of mental exercise for dogs, keeping them thinking and working out problems, as well as that happy sense of achievement when they work them out.
Playtime: Your dog gets the chance to make friends and have a good explore and sniff about in our play paddock, with toys and equipment for dogs to play their own way.
Breaktime: So that your dog gets the most out of their activities, there is suitable rest time in between. Contrary to popular belief, dogs don’t need to run around all day to the point of exhaustion to be content! You can read a blog that we published about the importance of balancing exercise, training and rest here.
After School Club: You can extend your dog’s school day to a full day for an extra charge, giving you the flexibility to pick up or drop off and make the most of your day.
In addition: As an owner, you can add on a 30 minute lesson at pick-up time to catch up with your trainer and learn how to help your dog’s progress. These sessions will help you to further your own knowledge about your dog and what they need from you.

These sessions are also a morning or afternoon and offer a variety of enriching activities to keep your dog exercised in body and mind, without the training element. What our clients think about our services
Day School FAQs
What if my dog has special needs?
Every dog is a unique blend of their genetics, character, environment, history and family. Our expert trainers have various specialisms to help dogs of all personalities – from energetic working dogs to distracted puppies, confident dogs that don’t always have their ears switched on to those who might suffer with anxiety or fear and be reactive as a result. The training sessions are set around your goals so the aims and outcomes are personalised for the needs of you and your dog.
What if my dog has specific dietary or medical needs?
When you register your dog, you will be required to fill in any information such as this before your dog arrives for the first time so that the care team know exactly what is needed and when. This all goes on your dog’s digital record at Royvon. Please ensure that any medicines or food needed for their stay are brought with you and taken home each time.
How do you ensure the dogs get along?
Not all dogs feel the same about socialising and playing with other dogs. For some this is the highlight of their day, for others it is a cause of anxiety. Depending on the circumstances, this might be the key goal for the training but your trainer will work with you to set realistic expectations for this. Not all dogs love being around other dogs and in this case we will support them to find their fun and enjoyment in other activities.
Will my dog be safe during playtime with other dogs?
Dogs are not left unattended during play sessions. Dogs that are not suited to group play are entertained with other stimulating activities and when certain dogs just don’t hit it off, we are able to let them have fun in different play sessions.
How do I track my dog’s progress throughout the program?
We offer site tours to see our facilities and introduce your dog to our spaces. Alternatively, booking a Royvon Play Days session will give your dog the chance to come for three hours and enjoy a variety of activities, during which time we can help to assess your dog’s suitability for Day School.
Can I visit or observe a session before enrolling my dog in Day School?
Your regular owner training sessions will give you time to discuss ongoing training goals with your trainer, as well as receiving training yourself to continue your dog’s progress between sessions and after the course.
What if my dog has separation anxiety?
What if my dog is nervous around new environments?
We are used to looking after dogs of all personalities, including those who feel anxious in some environments or situations. As with all of the services at Royvon, we suggest small steps to help dogs who feel like this to adjust. This might start with a site tour, a training assessment with your trainer so that they can start to build a connection, possibly a three hour stay with our Play Days group before moving on to the Day School. If you would like to discuss your dog’s specific needs you can email or us or send a WhatsApp.
