Residential training doesn't work without me there: It's a common assumption that owners need to be present for a dog to respond correctly, but training away from the owner can work well and, in some cases, work better. An inexperienced owner can unintentionally teach a dog the wrong lesson when faced with unexpected behaviour. Working with an experienced trainer first, then handing those skills over to you afterwards, is why we build in structured owner support after every stay: in-depth how-to videos, a one-to-one session on completion of the course, and three months of ongoing support afterwards. It's too expensive: A residential stay is a genuine investment, typically around £1,000 depending on the programme, but it's worth weighing against the cost of an untrained dog. We offer payment plans to help spread the cost. I feel guilty about sending my dog away: Feeling guilty is a natural response when you care about your dog, but most dogs settle in and are far too busy enjoying themselves to feel homesick for long. We maintain a high staff-to-dog ratio so every dog gets real individual attention. I don't know what actually happens during training: We use only positive, reward-based methods, built around finding what genuinely motivates your dog and using that to encourage the behaviour you want, never fear or punishment.
