Raw feeding, done well, can genuinely suit many dogs. Done poorly, it can cause real harm, so getting the basics right matters. Feed a properly balanced diet: a common ratio is around 80% meat, 10% bone and 10% organ meat, including roughly 5% liver. Always supervise bones or whole prey, as choking is a genuine risk. Keep prep areas clean with a pet-safe antibacterial cleaner. When starting out, introduce one new protein a week, beginning with plain meats like chicken or turkey before moving to red meats. Watch your dog's stools closely during this period. Never feed cooked bones, they splinter and pose a serious risk. Don't rush the transition to raw. An unbalanced diet of meat alone will cause problems over time. Immunocompromised dogs shouldn't be fed raw, speak to your vet about suitable alternatives. Rather than guessing quantities, weigh food with proper kitchen scales and prep a week in advance.
