Tom spent ten years in the prison service and was looking for a new challenge. He wanted to follow a lifelong dream of working with dogs. He found a local canine training academy and after a discussion with the tutors he decided he would start with a drug detection course with both passive and proactive dogs, general purpose and explosive detection dogs; this tied in well to his previous experience.
Tom attended the dual purpose drug detection dog handler course in 2014 and was an assistant trainer at Malpeet K9 Academy. He then progressed to work on a government contract in France, specially training and using dogs to search vehicles for illegal immigrants.
Tom is qualified in working and training detection and general purpose dogs and his huge love of dogs is plain to see (and they seem to really like him too).
He is new to Royvon and looking forward to working with dogs, so they can lead happy and settled lives at the heart of their families.
Tom lives in South Wales and spends his free time marching up mountains with his rescue staffy Jake, and using him to practice new tricks with.
