Senior Care Team
Andy has been a team member here at Royvon for many years now. His journey into dog welfare and training began when he got his first dog, a Border Collie cross named Jix. Andy and Jix began attending dog training classes, where their bond and Andy’s dedication to dogs went from strength to strength.
In 1999 He was asked to become a dog trainer for Hertford and District Dog Training Society (HDDTS), and spent the following nine months developing his teaching skills, running classes and working with numerous owners and their dogs. At the end of this intense training he attended The Dog Training Instructors Course (DTI) and left with his solo certificate. Two years later in 2003 he returned to the DTI course and gained his advanced certificate.
Since then he has run classes teaching agility and performed numerous one to one lessons helping countless people and their dogs with all manner of behavioural problems. He have also judged and stewarded in obedience competitions, Kennel Club Good Citizen Tests (bronze, silver and gold) and assisted in lowland search and rescue and gun dog field tests. Andy has also competed with both his own dogs Jix and Pops in obedience and agility to varying levels.
Thoughout his years at Royvon he has been overseeing our activity groups, helping many dogs to come out of their shell, relax in their new environment and most importantly finding the joy in play!
